The Codex Committee on Spices and Culinary Herbs(CCSCH) was established in 2013.

It was established with the support of more than a hundred countries under the Codex Alimentarius Commission(CAC).

Purpose:

To develop and expand worldwide standards for spices and culinary herbs.

To consult with other international organisations in the standard development process.

Why in News? The fifth session of the Codex Committee on Spices and Culinary Herbs (CCSCH) has been virtually inaugurated.

Host Country:

India is the host country.

Spices Board India acts as the Secretariat for organising the sessions of the committee.

Significance: Since its inception, the Committee has been successful in developing harmonised global Codex standards for spices and herbs.
