- Use of offshore areas within the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of the country for development of wind energy i.e up to the seaward distance of 200 Nautical Miles (EEZ of the country) from the base line
- National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE) is the Nodal Agency
- No land acquisition hurdles
- Cost will be almost double
- Plant Load Factor for offshore plants will be greater
